Cards for Cancer Patients

I have been keeping busy making cards for St. Vincent's Oncology patients.  As a cancer patient, you are often stuck on the Oncology floor and unable to go to the gift shop to buy thank you cards (my longest stay was five weeks) Meanwhile, your loved ones are showering you with get well wishes, new pajamas and books.  As many people make knit hats to give to the patients, I thought it would be a good idea to make handmade cards.  So this is my second delivery to the Oncology floor and as of yesterday the clinic wants them too.

This is probably the most cards I have ever made and I am just now getting the hang of it.  Great creative exercise.  If anyone wants to join in on the fun, you can always contribute to my stack or contact your local hospital and make your first delivery :)

Raspberry Jam

We love to pick berries and make homemade jam here at the Zweig Zoo.  We try to save some for special Holiday gifts.  These pictures are from 2006 and Aaron is so animated.  I made Jam last weekend and I always think of this day years ago because it was comical and fun.

I used the Sketchy Thursday 8-11 sketch

enjoy,

Bopper and Jacob

Found these great pictures of my son with his dog from 2007.  Bopper recently passed on so I made this page and painted a frame to match Jake's room.  Hanging up now... this picture turned out a little crooked, but you get the idea. The LO was picked up from Sketchy Thursdays.

Craft Warehouse Assignment 1 Complete

Greetings,
Just delivered my first assignment for the Craft Warehouse and thought I would share with you.  Our assignment was to create 2 layouts and a card with specific Authentique paper -- I received the uncommon line which is beautiful and pink. This paper is thick and so nice to work with. I already bought the blue journey line and love it... I have my eye on the yellow line (blissful) next.

Hello Summer

I was able to snap a few pictures on the last day of school.  Kids were so excited! This design was inspired by the Sketchy Thursdays (thanks again).

Brother and Sister

Sketchy Thursdays LO is keeping me motivated with my scraping.

I also added a second page to the layout for a full two page spread.

Together

My husband took these pictures several years ago as the kids and I were enjoying the sunset at Cannon Beach. It is one of my favorites. I used the LO from Sketchy Thursdays . I used textured and patterned papers that would highlight the pictures rather than some busier patterns this time around.

Birthday Reflections - Last Year

Last year, today, I headed home after being away for a month in cancer treatment to surprise my kids. Best Birthday gift to myself -- ever.  A lot has improved since then and we are getting back to normal. We will always remember our journey and appreciate each day.  Have a great one today.

note: this is in the "sketchy Thursdays" layout

Be The One Run - support patients in need of a bone marrow transplant

Hi there! I had Leukemia and my brother was my donor. Many people must go through the registry. Please view the video and pass onto friends and family... who knows, they could be the one and save someone's life (like my brother did for me).

Craft Warehouse: Your Story Layout Challenge

Here is my take on the "Your Story, Layout Challenge" from Craft Warehouse.  A list of my absolute favorite things using some of my favorite papers and colors (Love that teal).

Craft Warehouse: Sketch Challenge

This page went fast. Having a sketch to follow made the process simple! I did modify the outside of the design for this 8x8 scrapbook page.  Check out the challenge, as entries end soon.

Craft Warehouse: It's a White Out Challenge

This challenge forced me to grab as much textured embellishments and different types of papers all staying within the white out theme.  I added a bit of black to bring focus to the picture.

Craft Warehouse Homemade Flower Challenge

Check out the challenge for integrating homemade flowers into a scrapbook page design.  This page was a delight to create. The colors are bright in contrast to the rainy weather yesterday. Watching a Lacrosse game in the pouring rain my youngest son asked me, "Isn't this suppose to be May Mom?".

My daughter and I have always loved "Live, Love, Laugh".  It just simply summarizes this wonderful life.  And for this blog, "Live, Laugh, Create" fits the focus.  I hope sharing some fun ideas in scrapbooking, oil painting, water color, pencil, calligraphy and laughter will bring you some inspiration to try your own thing, whatever it may be.
